Midwest Auto Specialties

If you are a gearhead of a certain age, you may remember a speed shop before Summit Racing Equipment. This was the former Midwest Auto Specialties of Ohio, and they were a national catalog house by the 1970’s, and began in the 1950’s. By the early 1980’s under pressure from the new Summit Racing Equipment and a few others, the owners cashed out.

They may be gone, but those heady days are not forgotten. We are offering a reproduction of two famous catalog covers from 1968 and 1970 imprinted on Tees, hoodies, blankets, mugs, banners and all kinds of swag for your man cave or racing trailer. The 1970 cover is the first appearance of their famous drag racing tiger, replete with cigar and racing helmet!

NEWS FLASH! Famous Parts Manuals Coming!

In a major acquisition, HRM has obtained the rights to distribute the manuals of an eBay seller who has retired, after selling these manuals on eBay since 2003. They had spent many months and years digitizing this media all those years ago, and wanted to be sure this resource was kept available to the car crafting and restoration community.

We have several available now, and will be adding more in 2019. We are updating and compressing each manual, and adding to the resources on the disk beyond just parts manuals. Things such as tech tips, repair tips or manuals, vendor catalogs and more add to the value on every disk.

Currently available on eBay (check the Online Store button for info) are:

Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Jeep, MG/MGB and AMC. More are coming soon!

NEW Shopping Site To Be Released Soon!

FIRST, let us apologize sincerely to the many customers (too many) who have had problems with our online store in 2017. It seems the payment function was broken, and no good way to fix it. BUT, we are transitioning to a new format in 2018 to allow Digital Downloads! We see the writing on the wall as optical disks slowly disappear. This new store will appear over the next few months, and we appreciate your patience. In the meantime, you will always be able to find the physical disks on eBay by searching for auctions by user CSOA.

We will post a new column when the new shopping site is ready for downloads, and explain the process to ease the transition. One nice side benefit of Digital Downloads: if you are in the garage and stuck on the bench and need a resource, you can download the info with your smartphone, and have it on the screen in minutes! Is this progress or what?! Of course, getting the grease off the phone is YOUR problem, sorry 🙁
